When you are sitting in a boring Zoom meeting and your phone buzzes with "You just earned 500 Fuel," that is the most powerful retention hook possible.

The inbox is not just for communication. The inbox IS the scoreboard.

Here is the notification matrix. When someone backs your pointer, you receive a "Signal Detected" email. Subject line: "Plus 500 Fuel: Royalty Received." Body: "An anonymous Warlord staked 10,000 Fuel on your definition of [A1]. You earned 500 Fuel."

When you get outbid, you receive a "Signal Decay" alert. The narrative is slipping. Your pointer is no longer number one. There is a button to reinforce your position.

When a round closes, you receive a "Consensus Reached" notification. You earned the Prophet Badge. History records your foresight.

👤Privacy and Anonymity

The sender of every notification is "The Network" or an anonymous handle.

Never: "John Smith at gmail dot com tipped you." That would be a doxxing risk.

Users can use burner emails. Magic Link authentication does not care. We do not ask for names. The game runs on pseudonymous identities.

This is intentional. The system needs liquidity. Liquidity requires safety. Safety requires anonymity. The whale who stakes a million Fuel does not want their real identity attached to their position.

The minnow who patents a definition does not want to be harassed by those who disagree.

So the emails reveal the action, not the actor. Someone tipped you. Someone outbid you. Someone moved the market. Who? The network knows. But the network does not tell.

The dopamine comes from the event, not the identity. You do not need to know WHO gave you 500 Fuel. You just need to know that you GOT 500 Fuel. The anonymity increases rather than decreases engagement. It creates mystery. It creates a sense of a living, breathing market that moves independently of any single player.

Every single transactional email is blind carbon copied (BCC) to an archive address. Call it ledger at tesseract dot nu.

Why BCC instead of just logging to a database?

Privacy. The user does not see the admin email on every notification. Immutability. You have a timestamped, DKIM-signed email in a separate inbox that proves exactly when an event happened. This is legally admissible business record data, independent of your database.

Audit trail. If there is ever a dispute, if the database has a bug, if someone claims they were cheated, the Shadow Ledger contains the proof. Every financial event. Every notification. Every royalty payment.

The email budget exists for this purpose. These events are gold. They are user-generated. They are timestamped. They are cryptographically signed. They are the immutable history of the game.

The format is dramatic. "Reality Shift on [A1: STRATEGY.LAW]. Old Truth: Code is Law. New Truth: Law is Geometry. Stake: 55,000 Fuel. History is being rewritten."

Why make private game activity public?

Spectator mode. People watch the Twitter feed like a sports ticker. They do not have to play to be entertained.

Ego bait. If I just spent 100 dollars to change a definition, seeing the Bot announce it gives me massive dopamine. I will retweet it. My followers see it. Some of them sign up.

Proof of life. The tweets prove the system is active without revealing user identities. The market is moving. Decisions are being made. Truth is being contested.

The Scribe turns internal database changes into external FOMO. Private spend becomes public announcement becomes social boost becomes more players. This is the viral loop. And it works because the tweets are not just notifications. They are narrative. "Reality has shifted. History is being rewritten." That is not marketing. That is myth.

🎯The Retention Engine

Put it all together and you have a retention engine that runs on financial events.

User A buys Fuel. User A posts a definition. User B stakes on that definition. User A gets an email. User A feels rich. User A tips someone else. That someone else gets an email. They feel rich. They stake on a different tile.
