You approve work an agent did, and your approval lands in the log as a timestamp with your name on it. Divide the seconds by the decisions inside it and you will see what that timestamp is worth. In 1932 Learned Hand ruled on the same question: tugs without radios lost their cargo in a storm, the owners said almost nobody carried radios, and Hand held that a whole calling may lag, and custom does not set the standard of care once a precaution exists and is cheap. The parties who would have to adopt the check stay politely silent, and for them the silence is rational: the check is incompatible with where they sit. The Work Order Did Not Fit

A small local model was handed three real jobs, twice each, and landed none of them: the first turn wrote the right file, the second asked a menu question of an empty chair. Before blaming the model, the request was counted. The tool it runs inside sends about 4,894 tokens of system prompt and tool schemas before any work order, and the model's default context was 4,096, so part of every order never arrived. An identity test with one trivial order picked the right tool 3 of 6 times at 4,096 and 5 of 6 at 16,384: n = 6, small, and not kept. The scoring was changed to right-tool before the pooled read, and the order is on the record. What can be proved about the runner, what is only a rate about the model, and what is undecidable about the work are kept apart; every optimisation target is listed as a ratchet with its latest count or 'not yet read'. Last Thursday a weekly allowance went 41% in an afternoon on small asks. The repo's own ledger says why: across twelve measured sessions that day, 474,878,618 tokens were context read back and 1,735,789 were tokens that wrote something — 274 read for every one written, and one session at 303 to one. Two days later the work moved out of the window and onto a record on disk, where a worker boots cold from a declared row instead of the whole conversation, and every commit it lands gets a second entry it did not write. That is double-entry bookkeeping pointed at autonomy, and it is the same mechanism that makes the transcript short — which is why it flies and costs less at once.
